Together we can engage your students and help foster a sense of community responsibility.

We want to inspire our young people to contribute to and help build vibrant communities.

Medical research and the quest for answers to the cause of chronic disease, better methods of care and ultimately cures provide the key to a better future for us all.

We would like to invite you to partner with the RAH Research Fund – the hospital’s very own fundraising arm – to connect your students’ community service commitments with the importance of research. It’s a great way to help South Australia unlock medical solutions.

Whether it is heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer, dementia or any other medical complication, we all need expert care at some stage of our lives. The impact of serious illness or injury impacts not only ourselves, but also family and friends.

The RAH Research Fund Schools Program provides an organised framework for secondary and primary school students to raise money for the research fund and help make a difference in these areas.

In return, the program provides fascinating, educational insights into the inspiring world of life-saving medical research.

Together we can engage your students and help foster a sense of community responsibility as well as encourage personal growth and leadership.

In return for fundraising – and it’s positive experiences in volunteering and philanthropy – we can offer participating schools:

  • The opportunity to host an engaging medical research education session tailored to your learning program.
  • Attendance by four nominated students to our end-of-year Schools Medical Research Forum, including an exclusive tour of the new RAH and meet a world-class medical researcher who will explain how their work helps save lives.

All funds raised stay in South Australia and can be directed to any available research area that interest your students. This includes but is not limited to cancer, mental health, respiratory health (e.g. asthma), heart disease, or possibly an area that is important to your school group’s aspirations.

Ideas for fundraising activities are as limitless as your students’ imaginations – whether that’s a quiz night, school dance, morning tea, silent auction, sponsored walk or casual or dress-up day (think accident and emergency theme or even a zombie apocalypse!)

We want to make it easy for you to be involved. I’m here to provide support to help lift the event’s profile, including event management advice, secure money boxes, information about research to give away.

Please don’t hesitate to contact Ketrah Parsonage, Community Engagement & Events Officer on (08) 7074 1444 or Ketrah.parsonage@sa.gov.au if you have any questions.

We would love it if your school was one of the first in Adelaide to be involved. Ground-breaking research is of necessity a long, painstaking journey to discovery. Competition for government research funding is highly competitive and a tight market.

Your school’s fundraising will help keep day-to-day experiments running, help recruit the best researchers, purchase essential hi-tech equipment and fund research student scholarships that foster bright, young minds and fresh ideas.

Let’s discuss how we can work with you to empower young people with the belief that, at any age they can make a difference in their community.

Who knows, they may even be inspired to make medical research their career goal!
